Seneca Meadows

Please join us at the Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve (1712 Black Brook Road Seneca Falls, NY 13148) as Andrea Patterson from Braddock Bay will band several birds.  All individuals, families, groups, and friends are welcome to this free event!

Photographs are encouraged.  Last year, Andrea banded several Song and Swamp Sparrows, 2 Red-winged Blackbirds, and 2 Common Yellowthroats.  We also caught two Ruby-throated Hummingbirds but didn’t have permission to band them.  It may be hot and sunny, so hats and water bottles are recommended.  We won’t be walking too much (less than one mile at a time, to check the nets) and the trails are usually dry, but if conditions change you will receive more information earlier in the week.  Andrea will be with us until 11:00 AM, about 3 hours.  For more information and/or questions, please call (315) 539-5089 and leave a detailed message or email to

Free Concert Series Starts on Father's Day

This summer, Historic Geneva is again hosting a free concert series on the lawn at Rose Hill Mansion. For four Sundays, the grounds of Rose Hill will be alive with music and fun. End your summer weekend in the Finger Lakes with an evening of music on the lawn.

Bring Dad on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16, for the first concert in the series with A Girl Named Jenny, a high-energy Americana band that uses traditional folk instruments to produce a new sound encompassing several genres, like jazz-roots music, bluegrass-folk, and even rock and roll. Fiddle solos, vocal harmonies, meaningful lyrics, and insanely fast drums are some of the ingredients of that make their shows work.

On July 7, The 3 of Us featuring Jim Richmond, Diana Jacobs, and Dave Kuykendall will bring rhythm and blues, funk and rock to the site. Cool Club and the Lipker Sisters will perform an evening of jazz, boogie-woogie, ragtime, and swing on July 21. The trio Annie Ol’ Thyme concludes the series on August 18 with bluegrass, country and original songs.

All concerts begin at 5 p.m. and are free and open to the public. They are supported in part by the Nelson B. Delavan Foundation Part A.

The last regular tour of Rose Hill Mansion will run at 3:30 p.m. There will be no house tours during the concerts. The Carriage House Gift Shop will be open during the concerts.

For more information about the concert series or Rose Hill Mansion, call Historic Geneva at 315-789-5151 or Rose Hill at 315-789-3848. Rose Hill Mansion is owned and operated by Historic Geneva at 543 South Main Street, Geneva.
