Waterloo Library & Historical Society

From the Executive Director

Hello and welcome to May! I love this month. It holds so much personal meaning as well as it is an honor to be in Waterloo right now. I always cherish watching everyday the little things happening all over town to get ready for the season and Memorial Day. Flags start to come out, buildings and houses get cleaned up after the winter and flowers begin to bloom. We really live in a beautiful region and town. I hope I get to see many of you over the Memorial Day weekend. You can find me at the National Memorial Day Museum. We, of course, get to kick off the weekend with the Welles Award Ceremony in Fatzinger Hall. Then we have the opportunity to host many dignitaries, reenactors and families at the museum. Right on the heels of the holiday we will be hosting a $5 concert, school tours, while getting ready for summer reading. I’m so excited to share with you all the activities planned. First, I would like to thank the Village of Waterloo, the Police Department and Volunteer Fire Department for helping us with our Solar Eclipse party. We had about 100 people with music, snacks, the Taste of Soul Food Truck and more! We were also awarded a grant from South Central Regional Library Council to purchase the materials for our Solar Eclipse shirts that were so much fun to make. Even if it was a cloudy day, it was really spectacular to witness the eclipse, especially with so many people from our community. Thank you again for everyone that helped and attended the event.

See you Memorial Day weekend!

Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards

Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards Enters the Flavored Wine Market with Two New Exciting Wines: Strawberry Watermelon and Peach Mango

Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards is thrilled to unveil the much-anticipated arrival of two new wines: Strawberry Watermelon and Peach Mango. These exciting new flavors join the ever-popular wine, Bramble Berry, in building the company’s fruit flavored wine portfolio.

Following the wildly successful winemaking style of Bramble Berry, the Hazlitt family is excited to release these delicious, fruity wines. Strawberry Watermelon and Peach Mango are packed with sweet, refreshing flavors and are both 11% ABV. “Bramble Berry has been a customer favorite for over 20 years, right behind Red Cat,” said Brad Phillips, Director of Sales and Business Development at Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards. “It just made sense for us to expand on this style of wine, taking our native labrusca wines and blending them with complimentary, natural fruit flavors that customers can get excited about and love.”

Strawberry Watermelon is semi-sweet and offers the natural fruit flavors of freshly picked strawberries and ripe, juicy watermelon. Peach Mango, also semi-sweet, has a burst of natural fruit flavors, combining luscious, mouthwatering peach with rich, tropical mango. These vibrant wines are sure to brighten any day.

“It is important to us that we continue to be innovative and offer high-quality semi-sweet wines that are approachable and fun for our customers and wine enthusiasts to enjoy,” said Leigh Hazlitt Triner, Co-Owner at Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards. “Also, if you enjoy a quick and simple food pairing like Bramble Berry with chocolate, then you must try the Strawberry Watermelon with smoked almonds and the Peach Mango with cheddar cheese; both pairings are amazing!”

Strawberry Watermelon and Peach Mango are available in 750ml and 1.5L bottle sizes, retailing at $10.99 and $18.49, respectively. These wines are available online at hazlitt1852.com and at both winery locations: Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards in Hector, NY, and Hazlitt Red Cat Cellars. They are sold in select New York State wine and liquor stores.
